Overview
This document will cover a couple of ways to add items to stock from the Master Inventory. One option you have is to import the items from Mass Maintenance. The second option is to add the item to a quote and convert it to an order, which will import it from Master Inventory automatically. These options are detailed in the following sections.
Mass Maintenance
The easiest way to add multiple items from Master Inventory to stock is to use Mass Maintenance. To get to Mass Maintenance, go to Inventory > Inventory Manager from the main Enterprise window. In the Inventory Manager, click on the Mass Maintenance icon.
Once you have reached Mass Maintenance, click on the Import From Master button.
Now you will be able to import from Master Inventory into stock. Simply search for any number of items that you would like to import. Only items that are checked will be imported. For example, take a look at the picture below. I have searched for all items that belong to the Manufacturer "3M" whose Part Number starts with "3M111". A list of 3 items came up, but I only chose to import the 2 that are checked. The other 1 item will not be imported from the Master Inventory because I have unchecked them. When you are finished selecting which items to import, click on Proceed on the bottom right.
In the Mass Update screen, you will see all items that are going to be imported. You have the option to set settings for all of these items while they are imported. For example, I have given an item template for each of these items to be set on. You may change these settings for all items again later through Mass Maintenance if you would like. Once you are finished making changes, click Apply to make the changes. And finally, click Import Items to import all items on this screen with the settings that you have applied.
Depending on the number of items you have selected, it may take a little bit of time to import the items into stock. Once it is all finished, you will receive a message to let you know that all items successfully imported. Click OK, and you're all done.
Adding Items through a Quote
Let's say a customer wants to purchase an item that is Master Inventory, but you either don't want to give certain users in the system access to Mass Maintenance or you don't want to go through the trouble of using Mass Maintenance each time an item needs to be imported. By simply adding an item to a quote from the master inventory search, it will automatically import it into stock once you have converted the quote to an order.
For example, let's say you wanted to add Part Number from possibly a catalog data provider that is being synced into your Savance into Master Inventory into stock while adding it to a quote. As seen in the example above, you would select Master Inventory when adding the item and then search for it like normal. Once you have converted the quote to an order, **the item will automatically be added to stock. I**f there is no information assigned i.e. Pricing and Cost you will need to enter this information on the line details before converting.
